Yes, around the motor, you have seals and things of that nature. Over time, the seal loses flexibility or develops microcracks. Salt water can wear these out allot faster than regular water. And then if salt water, gets inside, it is much worse than fresh water. Salt conducts electricity, speeds up galvanic corrosion.
