Some brands do a better job with saltwater-friendly materials, but even then you still have to rinse everything with fresh water after every ocean session. If not, the salt starts eating things pretty quickly.
So yeah it’s worth considering where you’ll ride. If it’s mostly saltwater, look for boards built with marine-grade parts and plan on a little extra maintenance. If you’re mostly on lakes, it’s generally way easier on the gear.
