Went down HARD on my electric wheel today.
Wasn't even doing anything crazy, just a casual ride. A car at an intersection didn't see me and suddenly turned right. I swerved to avoid it, my wheel clipped the curb, and that was it.
One second I was up, the next I was launched. A total superman slide into the asphalt.
That horrible crunch I heard was my helmet smacking the ground. Not my skull.
My armored jacket is torn to ribbons, but my arm is just bruised. My knee pads are cracked. The gear is absolutely totaled, but I'm walking away.
Everyone makes fun of the full armor until the moment it saves your life.
Wear your gear. It's that simple.
