my EUC and my parents - notaclown - November 13, 2025 So, I ride an EUC and honestly, it’s one of the most freeing things I’ve ever done. There’s something about gliding down the street, the wind on your face, and the total focus it demands that makes it almost meditative. It’s not just transportation but a thrill, a challenge, and a way to feel alive in the middle of a regular day. I feel like flying superman when riding it. But, of course, my parents don’t see it that way. Every time I ride, they make fun of me. They say I look like a clown on one wheel, and joke that I should get some balls and start juggling while I ride. They laugh and call it irresponsible, like I’m doing something reckless just for fun. Part of me knows they’re joking, but part of me can’t help feeling judged. It stings because I know I’m careful, I wear my gear, and I’m constantly practicing and improving. Sometimes I wonder if they see it as a phase, or if they just can’t picture why anyone would choose something so unconventional. It makes me feel a little self-conscious, even though I genuinely love it. I wish they could see it from my perspective like the focus, the balance, the adrenaline, and the sense of accomplishment when I make it through a tricky path safely. I guess I’m just looking for some validation from people who understand. Does anyone else deal with being teased for their "weird" hobbies? Or for doing something that feels thrilling and empowering but might look odd to outsiders? RE: my EUC and my parents - Guru - November 27, 2025 Hey man, You are not a clown, relax :) I get it you are feeling roasted a bit, but honestly, your parents are just being extra loving in their own way. They probably think they're joking, but they don't realize it might feel a little much. Take a breath they don't mean to hurt you, and at the end of the day, it is all about having fun and doing your thing. You re solid, and one wheel or not, you’re doing something pretty awesome. Riding an EUC takes serious balance, coordination, and focus, skills that actually help with all sorts of other stuff in life. This is new for older people and they just don't get the feeling. Generational differences so try not to overthink it. RE: my EUC and my parents - friedchicken - November 28, 2025 They might also call you a power ranger with all the gear. You do you. Don't let it get to you and keep riding!
